Specimen Requirement
Collect lavender EDTA, centrifuge, transfer 0.5 mL plasma to an amber screw top plastic vial, indicate sample type on tube and send. If you do not have an amber transport tube, wrap regular screw top plastic vial in tin foil or an opaque glove to send. Tube must be labeled before wrapping, also label exterior.
Alternate collection: Collect lavender EDTA, send whole blood, wrap original tube in tin foil or an opaque glove to send. Tube must be labeled before wrapping, also label exterior.
Protect from light.
Patient preparation:
Patient must fast overnight and be restricted from alcohol and vitamins for at least 24 hours before sample collection.

Room temp: 3 days, Refrigerated: 15 days, Frozen: 15 days
