Specimen Requirement
Components: Aldosterone, direct renin and ratio calculation. Please do not order Aldosterone and Renin individually when Ratio is ordered.
Aldosterone: Draw blood in a SST. Centrifuge, separate and send 1.0 mL serum frozen in a screw-capped plastic vial. Label this tube “serum-aldosterone”.
Renin: Draw blood in lavender (EDTA). Centrifuge, separate and send 1.5 mL plasma frozen in a screw-capped plastic vial. Label this tube “Frozen Plasma-Renin”. CRITICAL FROZEN
