Specimen Requirement

Patient Preparation:
The patient should void bladder, then drink 17 ounces of water and provide a urine sample within one hour.

Specimen preparation:
Collect random urine, immediately transfer exactly 10 mL urine to a Quest Beta-2 Microglobulin transport tube. Beta-2 Microglobulin in urine is unstable in acidic urine (less than pH6).

Any volume of urine outside of 10 mL will result in a pH that is outside of the acceptable range.

Reference Range

The reference range is determined by the performing laboratory and will show on the report.
