1 Plain Red Top/2.0 mL serum. Place Red Top in warm water immediately after draw until specimen is clotted and can be centrifuged. After centrifugation, remove serum and place in a plastic transfer tube.
*Make certain to label transfer tube “serum from plain red” in addition to patient’s demographics.
Cryoglobulins may be present in macroglobulinemia of Waldenstr?myeloma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, lupus, chronic active hepatitis, and other viral infections.
