Specimen Requirement
Yellow top aerobic culturette, identify source. Keep swab moist with transport media by re-inserting completely into tube. Do not refrigerate. Bacterial pathogens normally sought in routine culture include Neisseria gonorrhoeae(GC), yeast, Streptococcus agalactiae (GROUP B), Gardernella vaginalis, and Staphylococcus aureus. Note: Routine genital culture is not for the diagnosis of herpes or chlamydiae.
