Specimen Requirement

Patient should be fasting for at least eight hours.

Collect SST/3.5 mL serum, allow to clot for 30 minutes, promptly centrifuge and send.

Dedicated SST is preferred for this test due to amount of volume needed for testing.

Rejection criteria:
Gross hemolysis and gross lipemia.



Room temp: 72 hours, Refrigerated: 72 hours, Frozen: 7 days

Reference Range

The reference ranges are determined by the performing laboratory and will show on the report.

Clinical Use

Assessment of liver status following a diagnosis of HCV. Baseline determination of liver status before initiating HCV therapy. Posttreatment assessment of liver status six months after completion of therapy. Noninvasive assessment of liver status in patients who are at increased risk of complications from a liver biopsy.
