Clinical Use

The LDL Direct is a measurement of Low Density Lipoprotein by Immunoseparation/Spectrophotometry. Direct measurement of LDL is required instead of the Friedwald or “Calculated”” method whenever triglyceride values exceed 400 mg/dL. Low Density Lipoprotein has been found to be a contributor to coronary plaque formation and contributing to the incidence of myocardial infarctions.
