Specimen Requirement
Patient should be encouraged to discontinue nutritional supplements, vitamins, minerals and non-essestial over the counter medicatiion.
Draw blood in DARK BLUE, NO ADDITIVE tube. Spin, separate and send 2.0 mL serum room temperature in an approved metal free screw-capped plastic vial (available from lab). Separate serum from cells within 6 hours. Indicate “serum/dark blue” on transport tube.
