Clinical Use
Theophylline is a bronchodilatory drug used in the treatment of asthma and other airway diseases. Theophylline opens airways by relaxing the smooth muscles in the airway walls. It can also be helpful in patients with chronic bronchitis and emphysema when their symptoms are related to airway narrowing.
